Fret Slotting Templates
Making a new fretboard? These fret slotting templates cover the most common scale lengths for instruments such as bass, guitar, mandolin, banjo, and ukelele. These can be used in a fret cutting jigs such as the StewMac and LMII jigs.

Made from quality 3mm clear acrylic and laser-cut for accuracy we are able to deliver these at half the cost of the stainless steel equivalents meaning you can afford to buy as many as you need. We use them in our busy guitar making school workshop and they do the job well.
Custom scale lengths are available. If you have a special need for an unusual scale length, just ask and we'll cut a custom template for you. Select the item Custom and tell us which scale lengths you require in the comments at checkout. Or email us.

Fret slotting for a compensated nut?
If you're looking to make a fretboard to go with a compensated nut, we have two ready-to-go fret slotting templates. One for nylon strings and one for steel strings. These custom fret slotting templates are designed to work with our compensated bone nuts . For full details please refer to the details on the compensated nut page. These templates include an additional index notch to cut an additional slot to define a 6mm wide nut ledge if required.
The following templates are available with 2 scales per selection. By selecting the appropriate code you will receive the two-scale lengths selected. We cut to order so allow 7 to 10 days for templates to be shipped.

Excellent Quality and Very Precise
By: Kevin on 20 November 2023These templates fit the bill. They are well made and they work great. I needed a slotting template where I could see my work throughout the process. You just don't get that with metal templates, and if something should slip, your expensive slotting saw blade won't be damaged. Thank you Guitar Templates!
